Why Summer For Senior Photos?
Summer Is One of the BEST Times for Senior Photos!
There’s just something special about summer in Georgia.
School is out. The schedules finally slow down (at least a little). The pressure of tests, homework, practices, and late-night studying takes a back seat for a few weeks.
Instead, it’s lake days, tan lines, sunshine, sweet tea, country roads, and the excitement of senior year being right around the corner.
Honestly? Summer is one of my favorite times to photograph seniors.
Not only is everyone more relaxed, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to get your senior photos finished before the craziness of senior year really kicks in.
Why Book Senior Photos During the Summer?
Most of my seniors choose summer because they want one less thing to worry about once school starts back.
By getting your session done early, you’ll have plenty of time for:
✔️ Yearbook deadlines
✔️ Graduation announcements
✔️ Wall art and albums
✔️ College applications and senior celebrations
✔️ Actually enjoying your senior year instead of stressing over photos
And let’s be honest…
Showing up to your session when you’re not juggling classes, sports, homework, and everything else that comes with senior year makes the entire experience so much more fun.
The Best Time of Day for Senior Photos
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I’m obsessed with good light.
That’s why I schedule most sessions during the last couple hours before sunset.
Golden hour in North Georgia is pure magic.
The light gets soft, warm, and flattering, creating those dreamy images everyone falls in love with.
And don’t worry if the forecast calls for clouds.
Some of my absolute favorite images have been created under cloudy skies. Those clouds act like a giant natural softbox and give us beautiful, even light.
JUNE
June is one of my favorites.
Everything is still lush and green, wildflowers are hanging on, and the Georgia heat hasn’t completely taken over yet.
The evenings are gorgeous, and we often get those soft, dreamy skies that create beautiful light.
JULY
July is peak summer.
Think sun-kissed skin, Americana vibes, lake days, denim shorts, cowboy boots, Coke bottles, red lips, and all the classic summer memories that feel like senior year.
This is the month for seniors who want that true summer feeling in their photos.
AUGUST
August is perfect for seniors who want a little more time to plan outfits and prepare.
The golden fields start showing off, football season starts creeping in, and you can almost feel Friday night lights around the corner.
It’s the perfect bridge between summer and senior year.
My Favorite Senior Photo Locations
One of the best things about North Georgia is the variety.
We have so many incredible locations to choose from
depending on your personality and style.
Some favorites include:
✨ Open golden fields
✨ Wildflower meadows
✨ Historic downtown areas
✨ Lakeside locations
✨ Horse farms and country roads
✨ Football fields and stadiums
✨ Mountain overlooks
✨ Tall grass fields at sunset
The goal is always the same: create a session that feels like YOU.
What Should You Wear?
The best senior sessions tell a story.
I always recommend bringing 2-3 outfits depending on your package that feel like different sides of your personality.
Look One: The Show Stopper
A dress that makes you feel amazing.
Something flowy, elegant, bold, or completely unique to you.
Look Two: Everyday Senior
Think jeans, boots, sneakers, your favorite top, a letterman jacket, or something you’d actually wear.
This is often the outfit that feels the most “you.”
Look Three: School Spirit or Hobby
Whatever has been a huge part of your high school journey deserves a place.
Sports uniform & gear
Cheer uniform & gear
Band uniform & instrument
Dance costume
FFA jacket.
Horseback riding.
When Should You Book?
Summer dates are always some of the first to fill.
Most seniors start reaching out in the spring, and once those prime sunset dates are gone, they’re gone.
If you’re thinking about senior photos for the Class of 2027, don’t wait until school starts.
Let’s get you on the calendar, create something incredible, and check one major thing off your senior-year to-do list.
Because before you know it, you’ll be walking across that stage.
And trust me…
Senior year goes by a whole lot faster than anyone expects.
